Three Postdoctoral Positions Biological Physics/ Physical Biology/ Biophysics School of Physics

Life Physics at Edinburgh (LiPhE) is the study of biological systems within the School of Physics at the University of Edinburgh. Our research in this area spans many length and time scales and employs experiment, simulation and theory. Current research activities include the study of protein aggregation and self-assembly, the motion of bacteria in viscoelastic media, and the simulation of gene networks. We have three postdoctoral positions available. The first is a 30-month BBSRC funded post to study the self-assembly of polypeptides and proteins into amyloid-like fibrils, with an emphasis on the study of their structure using solid-state NMR techniques. The second is a three-year EPSRC-funded position to explore and simulate the nucleation of aggregation and/or self-assembly in polypeptide systems using a combination of experimental and simulation approaches. The third is a three-year experimental PDRA to work on aspects of the physics of bacteria.

Fixed Term: 1 Position is for 30 Months - 2 Positions are for 3 Years
Salary Scale: £7,466 - £2,796 per annum
