This main visual of the Singularity Biology, painted by Utako Kikutani, was inspired by the cAMP wave in Dictyostelium induced by hunger and the famous painting “Liberty Leading the People” (Eugène Delacroix). Revolutions are one of the singularity phenomena that change social systems, and they share with the cAMP wave in Dictyostelium the fact that a leader and his/her followers are the starting point for the uprising, which then spills over into the whole. It is also similar in that not all uprisings are successful. Each cell in this main visual equips laboratory apparatus or PC in the hands, representing our desire to cause a singularity in research, using our respective specialties.
