One nanometer step observation using a plasmonic nano-probe

A chitin hydrolase was labeled by a 40 nm diameter gold nano particle, and the movement of particle was observed as scattering signals of 532-nm laser using a total internal reflection dark field microscopy. High speed and high precision observation revealed the 1 nm stepping movements of chitinase and moving mechanism of the enzyme.
