Student Presentation Award
Outline of the awards
Biophysical Society of Japan (BSJ) will confer “Student Presentation Award” to excellent presentations delivered by students in the annual meetings of BSJ. In this year’s meeting, the awardees will be selected from the oral presenters, who are applicants passed the first screening.

Requirements for application
Student and associate members (including those in the process of applying for membership of the Society) and student members of the Molecular Biology Society of Japan who will give presentations at the annual BSJ meeting. This award may be presented only once per junior high school, high school, undergraduate equivalent, master's equivalent, or doctoral program. Previous award winners who are currently enrolled in the same program as that at the time of the award cannot apply.
Student members and Associate members who apply for Early Career Award in Biophysics can also apply for Student Presentation Award based on the same presentation.
Committee members of the Biophysical Society of Japan, who are eligible for the Student Presentation Award, will not participate in the selection process of award winners by the committee.
Application procedure and application period
Download and complete the application form for the Student Presentation Award below, and convert the form to the PDF format. Apply for an oral presentation as the first and presenting author in the 2025 annual BSJ meeting. At the time of the application, upload the application form for the award in PDF via the abstract submission page. Only one application per one member is allowed.
he application period for this year’s award competition is the same as that of the presentation for the 2025 annual BSJ meeting. For this year's 63rd Nara Annual Meeting in 2025, there will be no extension of the application period for the Student Presentation Award if the deadline for abstract submission is extended.
When applying for both the Early Career Award in Biophysics and Student Presentation Award, please select “Yes” on column 1-h of the application form and surely submit the application forms for the both awards. If an applicant who applied for the both awards is selected as an invited speaker of the Early Career Award in Biophysics Candidate Presentation Symposium, he/she will be automatically eliminated from the list of applicants for Student Presentation Award.

Screening processes
- Students who wish to apply for the award should choose “一般発表[presentation]” in the presentation style of the annual meeting. In addition, they are asked to submit the application form filled appropriately as explained above.
- At the time of the poster presentation in the annual meeting, the referees will evaluate each presenter based on the application document, the presentation content and the presentation style. The referees will be selected from the regular members of the BSJ.
- The ratio of the awardees of the Student Presentation Award will be 20 to 30 % of the initial applications.
Announcement of awardees
The award will be given to the first presenting author of the presentation. Names of the awardees will be released at the meeting banquet at the second day of the annual meeting. In addition, the names of the awardees will be released on the BSJ website after the meeting. The award certificate will be sent to the awardees.
