目的：
　海洋研究開発機構（JAMSTEC）では、海洋・地球科学研究分野の博士号をもつ優れた
　若手研究者が、その研究課題をより卓越した業績へと発展とさせる事を目的とし、国
　際ポストドクトラル研究員制度を設けています。当該制度で採用されたポストドクト
　ラル研究員には、基礎研究費（1年目は1,000千円、2年目以降はその半額を予定）が
　支給され、これによって自立した研究者として選択した研究課題への取り組みが可能
　となります。また在任中は、研究活動を行うにあたり、JAMSTECの研究設備等が利用
　できます。

募集内容：
　当該制度採用者は、JAMSTECの研究者と協力しつつ、自立して自身が提案する研究
　課題を遂行することが求められます。 在任中は、研究活動を行うにあたり、JAMST
　ECの研究設備等が利用できます。 国際ポストドクトラル研究員にはそれぞれ担当の
　指導者が指名されます。指導者は、ポストドクトラル研究員が研究活動を円滑に遂行
　できるよう助言をし、年度ごとに進捗状況の評価をします。 またポストドクトラル
　研究員は入国に関する手続きや住居を探す際など、JAMSTECからのサポートを受け
　ることが出来ます。

　海洋学、地球科学に関連するすべての自然科学分野

応募資格：
　関連分野の博士号取得者（採用日までに取得見込みの者を含む）。
　博士号取得した年度の末日から採用までが5年以内である事。

Available Position:
JAMSTEC will be recruiting a total of 5 JAMSTEC Postdoctoral Fellow positions

Aim of the Position:
JAMSTEC wants to help talented young researchers who have completed promising Ph.D. theses to develop their scientific excellence in the fields of ocean and earth sciences. For this purpose, JAMSTEC has established an international postdoctoral fellowship programme. It is intended that research grants will be provided to successful applicants, which will enable them to work independently on research topics of their choosing: ¥1,000,000 for the first fiscal year and ¥500,000 for each of the second and third years. During the contract period, they will have access to the necessary facilities and equipment at JAMSTEC.

Job Description:
Successful applicants to this programme are expected to conduct scientific work independently on research topics of their own proposing or to proceed with research in collaboration with JAMSTEC staff. During the contract period, they will have access to the necessary facilities and equipment at JAMSTEC. A mentor will be designated to each JAMSTEC Postdoctoral Fellow, who will facilitate his/her research activities and evaluate research progress each year.
During the fellowship period, the administration section of JAMSTEC will provide support regarding personal issues (e.g., preparing immigration documents, finding an apartment, etc).

Any natural science field related to Oceanography and/or the Earth Sciences

Requirements:
Applicants are required to have been awarded or expect to have obtained a Ph.D. in a related field by the date of employment. In addition, no more than 5 years can have passed between the last day of the fiscal year in which the applicants obtained a Ph.D. and the date of employment.
